Drive Dates
Save Our Summer drives must be held between June 1, 2008 and August 15, 2008.

Qualifications
This promotion is only open to high school students in the following counties: Hillsborough, Manatee, Pasco, and Pinellas. Students must plan and organize a blood drive(s) with their Florida Blood Services High School Community Representative that collects a minimum of 40 units of blood ($1,000 scholarship) or a drive that collects a minimum of 25 units of blood ($500 scholarship) from volunteer donors.

* College students can look forward to a similar program beginning in the fall of 2008. If you are a college student and would like more information about the upcoming program, please email tben-avraham@fbsblood.org.

Payment
Scholarship check will be addressed to College, University or other learning establishment that the student attends after high school, not to the individual.


Scholarship Information


$1,000 Scholarship
This is a drawing for student volunteers who plan and organize a blood drive* between June 1 and August 15, 2008 that collects a minimum of 40 units of blood from volunteer donors. The winner will be drawn from those applicants that meet the $1,000 criteria.

* Or two (2) drives totaling 40 units

$1,000 Scholarship Criterion:
  1. Find a blood drive location with the help of your Florida Blood Services Community Representative.
  2. Attend face-to-face planning meeting(s) with your Florida Blood Services Community Representative.
  3. Recruit and schedule approximately 50-55 blood donors from friends, family. and potential past donor lists supplied by Florida Blood Services. Help recruit volunteers to assist at the blood drive (greeters, canteen).
  4. Be physically present for the duration of the blood drive.

$500 Scholarship
This is a drawing for student volunteers who plan and organize a blood drive* between June 1, 2008 and August 15, 2008 that collects a minimum of 25 units of blood from volunteer donors. (Note: If 40 or more units are collected during the summer period, the student volunteers qualify for the $1,000 scholarship drawing). The winner will be drawn from those applicants that meet the $500 criteria.

$500 Scholarship Criterion:
  1. Find a blood drive location with the help of your Florida Blood Services Community Representative.
  2. Attend face-to-face planning meeting(s) with your Florida Blood Services Community Representative.
  3. Recruit and schedule approximately 30-35 blood donors from friends, family. and potential past donor lists supplied by Florida Blood Services. Help recruit volunteers to assist at the blood drive (greeters, canteen).
  4. Be physically present for the duration of the blood drive.
